The show is entertaining at times. Between Jillian’s wanna-be psycho babble, Bob’s new found love for the word f***, and random product placements (“when I get hungry I chew gum”), it’s not too bad. I mean, at the end of the night I sometimes find myself watching it. Well, I watch for about 30 minutes off and on… never the entire 2 hours. How is THAT helping people lose weight?! Here, sit and watch television for two hours ya fatty… Anyway, I digress.

I don’t want to sit here and bad mouth the show entirely. I mean, it has helped many people lose weight and get motivated. You watch and you think, “If they can do it so can I!” So if that’s you then more power to ya! Keep it up!

BUT, if you are like most, you start to work harder and harder, only to find you’ve only lost 2 pounds this week instead of the 15 the person on television lost. Not fair!!! Well, let me be the first to congratulate you in your weight loss. Not only have you, minus your 2 lbs, lost a healthy amount of weight, but you’ll most likely be able to keep it off better than anyone that loses 15 lbs in one week. Why? Because it’s just not realistic!!! The people on this show are watched so closely by health professionals that they’ve basically quit life to take a job working out and barely eating. Who wants that? And when they get home… then what? We’ve seen countless times people getting back to their homes and become completely clueless. They come home to parties filled with cake and booze and crackers and cheese. They shut down! You should be able to eat these things in moderation. Celebrate yourself! You should be able to go into a party armed with the knowledge that these items will be there, and then know what to do about it! Ugh, I get so furious. They’re screwing people up mentally with the obsessive workouts and food intake. I do not agree.

The right way to lose weight is to exercise regularly and eat healthy most of the time. Not completely depriving yourself of everything, but not completely indulging either. It takes time to lose weight the right way. If you want to risk your life, your sanity, and your cravings for a piece of chocolate, go ahead and sign-up for the show. If not, do it the right way… the only way that’s EVER been proven to work for the long haul… get off your ass and move!!!

Ahem, all the best!
